Generator Sales, Service & Installation in Litchfield County, CT

Family-owned, factory-trained, and serving the Berkshires since 1991. 24-hour emergency generator service for Litchfield County and surrounding towns.

Litchfield County is the northwest corner of Connecticut and the geographic extension of the Berkshires across the state line. From Lee we drop through Sheffield and Ashley Falls and we are in Canaan in twenty minutes. The northern Litchfield Hills, Salisbury, Sharon, Norfolk, Cornwall, are part of our regular service area.

Andrus Power Solutions is a Berkshire-based standby generator contractor in Lee, Massachusetts, ten miles north of the Connecticut line. The northern Litchfield Hills are part of our weekly service rotation. We have been installing and servicing generators down through Salisbury, Sharon, Cornwall, Norfolk, and the surrounding towns since the 1990s.

The Litchfield Hills Outage Pattern

The terrain on this side of the state line is identical to the south Berkshires: hardwood canopy, long single-phase feeders, ridges that load with ice when the lowlands are getting wet snow. Eversource is the utility through most of the county and the restoration order in a major storm puts the rural northern towns at the back of the queue. A property in Norfolk or Cornwall can be dark for three or four days in a serious ice event while the valley is back online in twelve hours.

The second-home density is high in Salisbury (Lakeville and Lime Rock), in Sharon, in Cornwall, and in Norfolk. A standby generator on an absentee property is the difference between flying back to manage a power crisis and not flying back at all.

Private Wells and Propane

Outside the village centers, almost every property is on a private well. Natural gas does not reach the northern hill towns, so propane is the standard fuel for a standby unit. Sizing usually starts with the well pump and the heating system; from there it depends on whether the household wants the whole panel or a critical-loads subpanel.

Where We Work in Litchfield County

Salisbury, Sharon, Norfolk, Cornwall, North Canaan, Canaan (Falls Village), Colebrook, Goshen, Barkhamsted, and Hartland in the northwest are weekly territory. Kent, Warren, Litchfield, Torrington, and Winchester sit at the southern edge of our radius and we quote case by case. Below Torrington we are out of range and there are good local contractors in lower Litchfield County who should be your first call.
